Route

Start from the school field, turn left down Back Lane, right at the Church then next left at the George Washington pub, climb the hill until you reach the brow then right into the woods through Jed's Gate. Sharp left keeping to the wall for 50 paces or so then right, follow small track to the gate keep straight ahead with the fence/wall on your right for 600m left up the long narrow path 700m right into open fern land take the first path on your left start climbing again until the main path forks, go right and right again up the small limestone rocks bear left go through the walled gap and swing right at the cross paths turn right up large limestone rocks (take care if wet!). Continue up past the checkpoint to the summit, keep ahead with beacon on right then, take the right hand track keeping to the main path until Occupation Lane turn right 50 paces left through gate bearing right and keeping high follow stone wall just after the dip straight ahead through the trees and into open field bear right and follow the wall to Peters Lane. Continue on road past Leighton Hall main gates and then on the brow of the road hill turn left into the woods until you reach Summer House hill summit. Descend down the grassy hill to the tennis courts over cattle grid and along the tarmac lane for 700m right through farm gate into open field keep to the track near the wall the bear left across the field to second gate straight ahead to Deepdale Woods keep to main footpath then right after the climb down narrow path through stile into open field keeping high and bear left before the path swings right to a small gate back into the woods straight ahead keep to the path across the field to Peter' s Lane. Right up the road for 500m then left into small wood, out to open field bear right down grass track into Hyning Woods keep to the main path until road then right towards Warton left into The Roods (council estate), 50m through kissing gate on the right. Keep right toward the farm and into Chapel Lane over Borwick Lane (take care crossing road) into Back Lane straight onto the School and the finish.
